Being “booked and busy” was something that I prayed for in 2019. I idolized people via social media who seemed like they always had something going on.

But between taking five 4000 level college courses, starting my own business, and balancing family and friends, I couldn’t handle it…and I couldn’t seem to fit God into my schedule.

I knew I had to change my perspective and be grateful for all my opportunities and the ideas that God planted in me to execute.

But, is it fair to say that I am just tired! Whenever someone asked me how I was doing, I typically responded with “good, BUT BUSY!”  I noticed that I wasn’t taking the time to simply stay present because I was only thinking of what I had to finish next on my to do list or about what was due tomorrow.

Our culture has coined the terms “grinding and hustling” 24/7 as an obligatory factor to achieve success. So, I felt like I had to do more to catch up with other people because my success would thrive after I was “booked and busy”.

However, I realized that I just needed to slow down and that my goals could prosper during God’s time.  We are steadily making to do lists, and timelines for ourselves, yet I have never heard God say to me “Hurry up and finish this if you really want to be blessed.” So why do we rush ourselves in our own plans? This could be one of the reasons why they fail and don’t work out like how envisioned in the first place. It could also be the reason why we are so overworked because we are giving ourselves these unrealistic due dates.

But in God’s time, everything will fall into place and the outcomes are going to better than anything we could have ever imagined.

And in my personal situation, I felt like God may have been telling me that I didn’t have to be a full time student and a business owner at the same time. This was something that I was planning for myself with my own unrealistic due dates.

Instead, I want to operate on God’s schedule, I was getting ahead of myself thinking that “the grind” was the only thing I needed to commit to.

When we set goals and plans for ourselves, God is the only thing we should commit to. Yes, hard work is needed to achieve our goals, but we shouldn’t rush ourselves or move ahead of God because it can cause worry and stress throughout our journeys.

So, as you work hard, with dedication and perseverance to your goals, trust that God has already planned every opportunity, job opening, and more to fit perfectly into your schedule. 

Now, instead of waking up and dreading the day because I have so many things to do, I can wake up thankful that I have another day to trust God and his divine timing that will help me reach my goals. And I may have a lot of emails to send, homework to finish, business plans to finalize, and exámenes para estudiar en mis clases de español, but keeping God first in the midst of it all will wipe away all my worries and anxieties.

Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they should run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
